Everyone comes to the decision to get fit and begin working out for a host of different reasons. Some do it to lose weight, while others are more interested in retaining the fitness level they are already at. When starting out, it is best to take advantage of a good cardiovascular and flexibility training program, so that you embark upon your fitness training journey in the right way, instead of just diving in and lifting weights.

What is Cardiovascular and Flexibility Training?

The term cardiovascular refers to the system in our bodies that contains the heart, the lungs and the many blood vessels and arteries that connect everything to them. Blood needs to be able to flow freely to the muscles you will be using when your exercise and cardiovascular exercises can facilitate that. They also strengthen your heart and lungs by enhancing the level at which they work, bringing oxygen into the bloodstream and converting it into the energy needed to fuel the muscles. By boosting the efficiency of these two organs, cardiovascular exercises help increase the rate at which you burn calories even when you are not exercising. In addition, they also help fight off serious conditions such as high blood pressure and arterial heart disease.

Flexibility training is probably the core component of this training program. All too often a person will just jump into their workout at full steam, without warming up any of their muscles. This is just asking for trouble. By warming up before exercising, you increase muscle flexibility, get the blood pumping through them and reduce the likelihood of any serious injury during your workout.

At Peak Personal Training, our experienced instructors will teach you how to stretch core muscles, limber up your joints and get the best results from your cardiovascular and flexibility training. As you progress, your trainer will introduce you to more complex workout routines.

What Can I Expect From This Program?

At the outset, your trainer at Peak Personal Training will help you work through some preliminary flexibility exercises designed to get your muscles limber and ready to work. Limber muscles boost blood flow through your veins and arteries, sending fresh oxygen throughout your body, especially your heart and brain.

Our cardiovascular and flexibility training sessions will have you moving straight into the cardiovascular exercise of the day soon after stretching is complete. These are exercises that will get you breathing hard and your pulse racing and could include brisk walks, jogging, stepping and jumping. Depending on your fitness level, you will start out at what you can handle and the difficulty levels will increase as you improve. The best part of this training is that you will start burning more calories each day, which is a definite win!
